Sponsored by the Isle of Wight Festival and Red Funnel, the multi-award winning Walk the Wight returns on Sunday, 10 May, transforming the Island into a sea of yellow as walkers tackle the iconic cross-Island routes. Until 9am on Thursday, 7 May, online registration is £15 per person and includes entry to your chosen route, a walker number and a commemorative medal when you cross the finish line. After the deadline, you can still take part by signing up on the day for £20 per person. To beat the queues on Sunday morning, if you register online before the deadline you can collect your pack on Saturday, 9 May, from Mountbatten Isle of Wight's Newport hospice on Halberry Lane, between 9am and 4pm. Signing up now ensures you can focus on looking forward to the big day!” Purchase your official merchandise when you sign up, including a Walk the Wight T-shirt (£10), Walk the Wight cap (£15), Mountbatten socks (£7.50), reusable water bottle (£12) and dog bandana (£5). Limited stock will be available to buy from the start lines. Your support of Walk the Wight raises around £500,000 annually, which is critical to ensuring the charity can continue providing 24/7 expert care to Island families — 85 per cent of which is delivered in people’s homes, with the remainder provided through our inpatient unit and day services at the John Cheverton Centre at Mountbatten Isle of Wight in Newport. Mountbatten Isle of Wight reaches 70 per cent of deaths on the Island, compared to the national hospice average of around 30 per cent. While the £15 entry fee helps cover some of the costs of running the event, every additional pound raised through donations and sponsorship goes directly towards the £10.5 million needed each year to fund Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s services for Island families.
