Your donation helps families like Brian's This December, we invite you to join us in lighting up a life, just as Brian will, by dedicating a light in memory of his wife and daughter - and donating to support patients and families cared for by Mountbatten Isle of Wight. Brian's story: "When my eldest daughter, Nikki, was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, our world changed forever. We didn’t know how we would cope, but Mountbatten stepped in and supported us every step of the way." When Brian's eldest daughter, Nikki, was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer, his world changed forever. "We didn’t know how we would cope, but Mountbatten stepped in and supported us every step of the way. When Nikki’s pain became too much, she chose to spend her final days at the hospice. Jan and I stayed by her side, and the care we all received was beyond anything I could have imagined. The staff treated Nikki — and us — with such kindness and dignity. No request was ever too much. They made sure we could focus on being a family, even in the hardest moments." A few years later, when Brian's wife, Jan became seriously ill, Mountbatten were there for him again. "Their team gave us confidence and reassurance, and with Mountbatten’s support, Jan could be cared for at home, where she wanted to be", he says. "That meant the world to us." Donate and dedicate a light here. After Jan died, Brian was in a very dark place but Mountbatten's bereavement support helped him find his feet again. Brian says "their art class has given me a sense of connection and hope. I feel less lonely now. That’s why, this Christmas, I’m dedicating a light on Mountbatten’s remembrance tree to my Nikki and Janet, and donating to give back to the charity that has given me and my family so much love and care." "If you, too, are missing someone this Christmas, I invite you to join me. Dedicate a light and donate in their memory. We can’t afford to lose Mountbatten, and whatever you can give will help them continue caring for families like mine." Join us at Light up a Life on Sunday, 7 December. Together, we will honour the memory of loved ones with festive music, readings and a chance to light a candle in their name. Who will you remember? Join Brian in dedicating a light to a loved one and donate here. Let us know you will be attending Light up a Life here.
