At Mountbatten Isle of Wight, we understand the challenges faced by people living with dementia and their loved ones. Dementia is a progressive condition with no cure, and it can shorten life expectancy. That’s why we focus on providing compassionate, high-quality care to ensure comfort and dignity at every stage of life.

How will Mountbatten Isle of Wight support you if you have dementia?

Our expert team supports people with advanced dementia and their families by delivering personalised end-of-life care wherever they feel most at ease—whether that’s at home, in a care home, or on our inpatient unit in our hospice building.

We work closely with health and social care professionals, empowering them with the skills needed to care for individuals with advanced dementia. By collaborating with your care team, we ensure that you receive the best possible support tailored to your unique needs.

In addition, we offer several social support and well-being groups for people with dementia and their carers:

  • Music group: Every Wednesday, 3–4 pm, John Cheverton Centre, Mountbatten Hospice
  • Carer’s café: Every Friday, 1–3 pm, John Cheverton Centre, Mountbatten Hospice
  • Carer’s group: First Monday of each month, 2–3:30 pm, Riverside Centre, Newport (in partnership with Carers Isle of Wight)
