Last year, Ash Lane resident Lee Hayden won Island Echo’s Light up the Wight competition. This year, his display is even bigger and brighter. Scroll down for a video, a link to The One Show, and how to see Lee's lights... As part of The One Show filming, TV presenter Angellica Bell visited this week, to see the display for herself. “I was absolutely in shock,” she told Lee, adding, “I’ve never seen anything like it.” How to see Lee’s Light up the Wight Christmas Lights display in support of Mountbatten Isle of Wight Visit Ash Lane, Newport (head all the way to the end, you can't miss it!), from 4.30-9pm, until the end of December. Below: Rory, Roman and Marley, with Ben and Karina, who were among those visiting, this week. If you plan to visit, expect thousands of brightly coloured bulbs, moving reindeer, snowmen, Father Christmas displays and huge outdoor Christmas tree: Almost every inch of Lee’s house and garden is covered by glowing bulbs and cheery, festive creations. Most nights, as an extra magical treat for those visiting as part of the Southern Vectis bus tour, Santa pops by to say hello. Lee’s display is in its third year, but 2025’s preparations were hampered when he suffered a serious knee injury. Friends and family pulled together to make the light show a reality. Businesses including MK Scaffolding, Shide Trees and Sydenhams have all played a part in keeping the display on track. “We try and change it up each year and make it that little big bigger,” said Lee. Lee's is not the only Christmas lights display supporting Mountbatten Isle of Wight during Light up the Wight 2025. Find out how to visit the other displays in support of your local hospice HERE.
