Thank you for helping Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s Walk the Wight win gold at the Red Funnel Awards 2025 — for the third year in a row!

The iconic event has been named Best Island Event at a ceremony at Northwood House in Cowes.

We are so grateful for your continued support – whether you’re an individual walker, a group, a volunteer, a caterer, an entertainer, part of our road safety team, a landowner who lets us set our iconic course and everyone in between.

Walk the Wight involves around ten thousand participants and hundreds of volunteers, and it covers a route of over 26 miles, from Bembridge to The Needles Pleasure Park, at Alum Bay.

Did you take on the flat walk, from Sandown to Shide, this year? 2025’s Schools Walk raised over £48,000 – a record-breaking amount for this event.

Maybe you walked the Wight your way, or were one of the people we support and who took part in our John Cheverton Centre gym’s version of Walk the Wight.

Together, you raised more than £535,000!

These vital funds help us deliver expert and compassionate end-of-life care to around 2,300 in any one day, in homes across the Island, in our John Cheverton Centre and on our inpatient unit.

On Thursday night, Walk the Wight organiser, Ashleigh Gibbs, said: “We are beyond delighted to have picked up this brilliant accolade for the third year in a row.

"We have accepted our gold award on behalf of all those who take part and who help us deliver this brilliant event, which has celebrated its 35^th anniversary in 2025.

“Walk the Wight makes memories and brings so many people together – from the Island and beyond. You're invited to join us in 2026!”

Walk the Wight also won gold at the Red Funnel Awards in 2024 and 2023.
