Mountbatten Isle of Wight fundraising event, Walk the Wight 2025, is in the running for Best Island Event at this year's Red Funnel Awards.

The iconic walk, which has already raised over £500,000 in 2025, needs your vote if it is to stand a chance of winning this amazing accolade.

This week, the current fundraising total was revealed at a special event in Mountbatten Isle of Wight's John Cheverton Centre.

Confetti and applause met an announcement that £515,000 has been raised, with more money due to be paid-in over the next few months.

Now, your local hospice is encouraging supporters to vote for Walk the Wight to be named Best Event.

To do this, you will need to visit Red Funnel's official awards page. See the link above.

It takes hundreds of staff and volunteers to make a success of Walk the Wight, which is celebrating its 35 birthday this year.

Around nine thousand walkers take on one of four routes — there is something to suit you! — trekking up to 26 miles across the Island’s glorious countryside.

People also take part remotely, while and others Walk the Wight their way (including a group of patients who clocked up the miles in Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s gym, during their rehab sessions).

Pre-registration has now opened for Walk the Wight 2026, and early bird interest also means a ten per cent discount on your registration fee. Tell us you are are interested now and will will email you when sign-ups officially launch, early next year.
