News & events News Meet Queen's Nurse award winner Mountbatten's Linda Prendergast Congratulations to Mountbatten nurse, Linda Prendergast, who has been officially awarded her Queen’s Nurse award for community education. Rewarding a commitment to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership, the title is handed out by community nursing charity, The Queen’s Nursing Institute (QNI). Applicants must have at least five years’ experience and need to show they are committed to delivering and leading outstanding care in the community. Linda has spent around 40 years in nursing, including 25 years at Mountbatten. Nurses who hold the title benefit from developmental workshops, bursaries and networking opportunities. Linda (above left, and below) is pictured with Professor Dame Elizabeth Anionwu, who holds the Order of Merit, which was previously held by Dame Cecily Saunders. Dr Oldman said: "On behalf of The Queen’s Nursing Institute, I would like to congratulate Linda Prendergast and welcome her as a Queen’s Nurse. "Queen’s Nurses serve as leaders and role models in community nursing, delivering high quality health care across the country. "The application and assessment process to become a Queen’s Nurse is rigorous and requires clear commitment to improving care for patients, their families and carers." In September, when Linda was told she has successfully won the title, she told us: "I am accepting this prestigious award on behalf of the education team and Mountbatten. "I look forward to continuing to using it to extend our network and reach." Manage Cookie Preferences
