Giant candles and a huge sunflower were among artworks created at workshops run by The New Carnival Company, held at Mountbatten Isle of Wight ahead of Light up a Life.

From the not-for-profit Ryde-based arts organisation, Gina Dyer said: “We’ve had lots of lovely conversations and it’s amazing to see everyone be so creative.”

A giant willow-framed sunflower and candles were made, to feature messages to loved-ones.

The New Carnival Company team worked with members of the art club at Mountbatten Isle of Wight's John Cheverton Centre, ahead of Light up a Life on 7 December.

The workshops took place thanks to support from the National Lottery Community Fund.
