Ryde Canoe Lake will host Ryde Model Yacht Club's charity model yacht race, in aid of Mountbatten Isle of Wight, on Sunday 28 June.

The event is proudly sponsored by Jewson and aims to raise funds for the hospice's vital work across the Isle of Wight.

The race will take place between 10am and 2pm, and will feature a fleet of competitive Marblehead class model yachts.

Expected to take part are 18 Marblehead yachts, providing spectators with an exciting display of close racing and tactical competition on the water.

Spectators are welcome to attend, enjoy the racing and support a worthy local cause.

“We’re proud to support such an important local charity through the sport we love,” said Pete Dommett, Commodore at Ryde Model Yacht Club.

“This event is all about the racing and raising funds for a meaningful cause.”

About Ryde Model Yacht Club

Founded in 1874, Ryde Model Yacht Club is one of the oldest model yachting clubs in the United Kingdom.

Originally sailing on the waters off Ryde seafront, the club moved to Ryde Canoe Lake following its construction in 1882. The club has remained a prominent part of the Island's sporting heritage ever since.

Organisers hope the event will raise valuable funds for Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
