If you are missing someone this Christmas, honour their memory at Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s annual Light up a Life event on Sunday, 7 December.

This special evening – held at Mountbatten in Halberry Lane, Newport – offers a chance to remember and celebrate loved ones who have died. Donate to dedicate a light on Mountbatten’s remembrance tree, and light a candle during a moving outdoor service with festive music and readings.

Brian Rayner, from Newport, who is remembering his wife, Jan, and daughter, Nikki – both cared for by Mountbatten’s teams – shared: 

“Dedicating a light is a simple but powerful way to keep the memory of those we love close at Christmas. Each year, when I see the lights shining, I feel connected to Nikki and Jan, and to a community of people who understand what it means to miss someone dear.”

All are welcome, whether or not you have experienced Mountbatten’s care. After the service, guests are invited to enjoy mince pies and warm drinks in the John Cheverton Centre, sharing memories and support with others.

Names dedicated by midnight on Tuesday, 2 December, will be displayed on-screen during the event. If you are unable to attend, you can still dedicate a light and be part of this meaningful tradition.

Free parking is available at Seaclose Car Park, with a shuttle bus to the hospice. Limited accessible parking is available on-site.
