More than £10,000 was raised for Mountbatten Isle of Wight, at a charity cricket tournament celebrating the life of well-known Island cricketer and solicitor Ian Heal.

It was held on the first anniversary of the former solicitor's death.

Organised by Ian's former club, Carisbrooke High School Old Boys alongside his family, the tournament attracted a crowd over 500 people.

Some travelled from as far as the Netherlands and Scotland to be at the event.

Teams were made up of Ian’s family and friends from Carisbrooke High School Old Boys Cricket Club, university and the Isle of Wight law society.

Porchfield Cricket Club hosted the day.

Money was raised through donations, an all-day barbecue, sales of cakes and sweets, and a grand raffle of more than 100 prizes which were generously donated by local businesses and friends.

The winners of the Ian Heal Celebration Cup were Porchfield Cricket Club, with the cup presented by members of Ian’s family.
