The third annual event is taking place on Saturday, 19 October, between 10am and 5pm. Also expected to attend are Drop the Dead Donkey, Harry Potter and Doc Martin star Jeff Rawle, and actor Rosalyn Landor. There will be a selection of stalls, selling comics, memorabilia and more, as well as the chance to join in with an eclectic mix of games, from VR to Dungeons and Dragons, and watch some wrestling. If you are attending, you are encouraged to dress the part. Donations are collected in buckets for Mountbatten Isle of Wight and money is also raised via a lucky dip, as well as when guests park. Clive was taught to paint by his father and later, by a Carisbrooke High School art teacher. Clive used to paint pet portraits but he soon wanted to expand and now paints whatever inspires him. He said: "When you are interested in a subject it shows, because you put so much more into the painting. "With this exhibition at Mountbatten Isle of Wight, I wanted to show how diverse I am. "My favourite theme is Star Wars but I don't only do that. There's the tiger, mermaids, the Hindenberg — all sorts." Among the pieces on display at Mountbatten Isle of Wight's art gallery (turn left at our John Cheverton Centre shop, then right, under the ribbons) is artwork linked to Clive's Weed Whacker Woman comics. He will be signing these at Fan TC Con and the lead character is based on his wife, Dawn. Clive is in an artist and writer collective called Caulkhead Comics. A few of his works will be at Fan TC Con and an action figure will also be launched! His exhibition is open to the public and some of the paintings are being sold, with a third of the profit kindly being donated to support Mountbatten. He said: "Both Dawn and I have had cancer. Thankfully Dawn has been given the all clear. Unfortunately, I haven't. "After the support I have had from the hospice and the support Dawn was given...we like to give things back." Dawn's favourite work is the Joker and a painting of mermaids. Meanwhile, Clive loves his painting of the Hindenberg disaster and a Martian landscape. "I have always wanted to see man land on Mars. I grew up during the space race. Mars has always fascinated me," he said. "If I weren't able to paint, it would be hard for me." Manage Cookie Preferences
