News & events News Share your views with Mountbatten's Your Thoughts Count Mountbatten Isle of Wight wants to hear from you about our services and how we deliver them across the Island, as our hospice charity launches a public engagement exercise called Your Thoughts Count. Over the next few weeks, Mountbatten is asking for your thoughts and experiences to help inform our plans for the future. We are asking you to fill out a questionnaire (scroll down for a link). Why is Mountbatten Isle of Wight launching Your Thoughts Count? Your Thoughts Count is being launched because: Hospices like Mountbatten are facing increasingly challenging financial conditions It costs Mountbatten Isle of Wight £10.5 million to deliver 24/7 end-of-life and palliative care services in homes across the Island and in our hospice building There is uncertainty over our NHS funding (around a third of the overall amount we need to run) In December, the government announced plans to award £100 million to hospices across the country, over two years. We await more detail but have been told this is for improving buildings, equipment and accommodation. Mountbatten would prefer to see money allocated so expert staff can deliver vital care to people when they are at their most vulnerable. We want to build a picture of the many ways Mountbatten impacts the Isle of Wight's community and find out what you think are the most important aspects of what we do. Your experiences, stories and opinions about Mountbatten's work will help inform our charity's future. How to share your views Fill out a questionnaire You are invited to complete a questionnaire about your experiences with Mountbatten. One third of Mountbatten's funding comes from the NHS, via commissioners from the Integrated Care Board (ICB). This money has not risen in line with inflation, while our costs have gone up, including through government-awarded staff pay rises, national insurance increases and day-to-day expenses. The remaining two thirds of our funding comes from fundraising and donations, upon which Mountbatten is increasingly reliant and which pays for two out of three of the patients supported by Mountbatten.
