Our care & support Support for you and your family Support for children and young adults Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s Wednesday club for young adults Mountbatten Isle of Wight's Wednesday club is designed to combat social isolation and foster connection for young adults living with life-limiting illnesses. Many of the young adults who join us initially feel nervous, but soon discover the shared experiences and common interests that help build lasting friendships and boost confidence. How can Mountbatten Isle of Wight’s Wednesday club for young adults offer support? The Wednesday club offers a safe space where young adults can relax, create, and learn together. The club features a variety of activities, including arts and crafts, relaxation sessions, music therapy, and even mental health first aid training. These sessions are complemented by a delicious lunch, which always sparks great conversations and ideas. We’re also pleased to welcome school-aged children during school holidays, with exciting day trips like visits to the donkey sanctuary, Osborne House, the bowling alley, and sailing experiences at UKSA and Fishbourne Sailing Club. Charles Huskinson, 21, from Newport, shares his experience:“I come here because it makes me feel safe and secure. Since I’ve been coming, it’s helped me build my confidence.” What’s on at Wednesday club? 11am to 12:30pm – Creative therapiesJoin us for an engaging arts and crafts session and express yourself creatively. 12:30pm to 1:30pm – Lunch and discussion ForumEnjoy a delicious lunch and participate in discussions that help shape the future of our services. 1:30pm to 2pm – Relaxation groupTake time to unwind with this peaceful session, ideal for relieving stress and anxiety. 2pm to 2:45pm – Music groupUnleash your inner musician by trying out different instruments in a fun, relaxed setting.
