Mountbatten End of Life Care Champions is available to book as a face-to-face training course with hospice charity, Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

How is the course taught? Presentation, video, case discussion and small group exercises.

Where is the course delivered? Mountbatten Isle of Wight, Halberry Lane, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2ER.

Length of course: 4 days

Cost of course: £300 per organisation, for up to 3 staff members.

The key aims of the Mountbatten end of life care champions course, are to:
  • Increase knowledge, skills and confidence in all aspects of end-of-life care from early discussions through to
    bereavement care.
  • Support organisations to develop best practices when supporting people with end of life care.

    Programme Focus:

    This accredited programme invites up to 3 people from your organisation to become Mountbatten End of Life Care Champions, who will lead on a service development project and disseminate teaching to other staff. It is recommended that at least one person attending should be a senior member of staff who can support and embed organisational change. 

    The programme is delivered across 4 days: 

    Day 1   Values, quality and co-ordination of care.

    Day 2   Recognising when someone is in the last years of life. Advance Care Planning. Communication.

    Day 3   Care in the last days of life. Symptom management. End of life dementia care.

    Day 4   Care after death & bereavement. Wellbeing and resilience. Organisation development project.

    Cancellation policy:

    We understand that sometimes it is necessary to change plans. However, to ensure our costs are covered in the event of cancellation the following charges will apply.

    • Cancellations (and requests to transfer bookings to another date) made with at least 8 weeks’ notice will incur a £25 administration fee.
    • No refund of course fees (partial or full) will be available where notice to cancel is received within 8 weeks of the course start date, or in the event of non-attendance or partial attendance.

    If, due to unforeseen circumstances, Mountbatten cancels a course you will be given the option to transfer your booking or receive a full refund of the course fees.
