Laura Gaudion, Strategic Director for Adult Social Care and Housing, Isle of Wight Council

Laura has more than 20 years' local authority experience. She says it has been varied, challenging and hugely rewarding.

A trained lawyer, Laura strives to make a make a difference, have real impact and make life better. Laura is very clear that this is the reason she chose local government and a career in adult social care.

Laura’s approach is a little less traditional than might be expected, leading to a more forensic analysis of social work, which has enabled her to focus on what really matters. She has felt able and encouraged to constructively challenge the ways things are done.

Craig leads on Hospice UK’s financial support for hospices, including quarterly benchmarking of hospices financial performance, the annual hospice accounts report and hospice finance sustainability index.

Craig managed the emergency funding programme for hospices during Covid-19 and led work to persuade the government to introduce a VAT refund scheme for hospices, in 2015. He is a chartered accountant, who initially specialised in supporting and advising charities and other not-for-profit organisations.

Craig regularly supports charity boards with strategic planning, risk and financial management. He previously acted as interim Finance Director for a national healthcare charity and has been a trustee for several charities, including a homeless shelter, an international development charity, a literature festival and a care home group.
