Catheter Care is available to book as a face-to-face training course with hospice charity, Mountbatten Isle of Wight.

Who can take part? Applicable for all health and social care support staff.

How is the course taught?  Presentation, discussion, practical demonstration, and individual participation.

Where is the course delivered?  Mountbatten Isle of Wight, Halberry Lane, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 2ER.

Length of course: 3 hours.

How much is the course? £25 per person.

In this course about catheter care, you will:

    • Revisit infection prevention and control measures, such as, hand hygiene, donning and doffing of PPE and correct disposable of waste
    • Review the anatomy of the urinary tract.
    • Discuss the purpose of a catheter and the risks of urinary catheters for service users.
    • Examine best practice in catheter care in line with national guidelines.
    • Participate in a practical element including:
      • using a non-touch technique to empty a catheter bag
      • changing a catheter bag
      • removing a catheter

    We understand that sometimes it is necessary to change plans. However, to ensure our costs are covered in the event of cancellation the following charges will apply.

    • Cancellations (and requests to transfer bookings to another date) made with at least 8 weeks’ notice will incur a £25 administration fee.
    • No refund of course fees (partial or full) will be available where notice to cancel is received within 8 weeks of the course start date, or in the event of non-attendance or partial attendance.

    If, due to unforeseen circumstances, Mountbatten cancels a course you will be given the option to transfer your booking or receive a full refund of the course fees.
