After 24 gruelling hours, two Mountbatten Isle of Wight nurses and a doctor have reached the finish line of The Big Wight Walk.

Their 66 mile route saw them take in Porchfield, Colwell, Yarmouth, The Needles, Yarmouth, Compton, Blackgang, Ventnor, St Lawrence, Shanklin, Sandown, Bembridge Ryde, Wootton, Quarr and Fairlee Road.

They even finished earlier than expected.

For nurses Theresa and Julie, and for Dr Jane, the walk was to show how Mountbatten Isle of Wight's expert 24/7 end-of-life care reaches all corners of the Island. We think they achieved it, and then some.

Supported by a team of refreshment providers, they took on hills, farmland and urban routes, at 1am buoyed by doughnuts and pretzels.

We are beyond proud of what they've achieved.

Right now, they're taking a well-earned rest, but we'll catch up with them for a final blog instalment later this week.
