We hope the nerves Sammy was feeling earlier this week have been replaced by the excitement of being out in the snow in Sweden, on acclimatisation and training day, at the Lapland Husky Trail Challenge for Mountbatten Isle of Wight!

“I've actually debated hiding my own passport," she admitted, on send-off night at our hospice in Newport.

"The night-time temperatures apparently can get so cold that your eyeballs feel like they're freezing, even though they're not! I bought a balaclava to sleep in. I am looking forward to doing something that's completely out of my comfort zone and hopefully seeing the Northern Lights as well."

Scroll down to watch her in action today (in red, and with friend, Beccie, with whom she is raising vital funds for Mountbatten), setting out on the sled and learning about the husky dogs which will propel her to the Ice Hotel - around six days and 240km away.

The challenge sets off properly tomorrow (Sunday).
