The 2024 Mountbatten Conference is being sponsored by Pacific Care Services.

The community services care provider's manager, Brighton Masvaure, said: "We're here for the first time to try and build partnerships." 

A nurse, Brighton is keen to be more collaborative with professionals and volunteers in the care sector.

He said: "We hope this event will help solidify that trajectory.

"We work well with Mountbatten. The charity is always there, to assist us and to assist clients. 

"We are disheartened because of the funding issues.

"I think there needs to be emphasis on volunteering. Most volunteers do the non-specialist roles. I think there needs to be a shift and nurses and doctors - healthcare specialists - need to chip in and bridge that gap.

"You don't have to give twenty hours a week. If 20 people give four hours each a month, that's quite significant."
